Best Practices Regarding Opioid Prescribing: CME Event Part 2

The Rhode Island Medical Society is helping the medical community by providing the required 8 hours of the Prescriber Training Requirements for Best Practices Regarding Opioid Prescribing in 2 events. The specific training requirement is required only once and must be completed before renewal of controlled substance registration or two (2) years. Any practitioner who prescribes a Schedule 2 opioid is required to successfully complete eight (8) hours of Category 1 CME for each of the topics.

- Appropriate prescribing of opioids for pain

- Pharmacology

- Adverse events

- Potential for dependence

- Tolerance

- Addiction

- Alternatives to opioids for pain management
